These photographs are part of Lara's series on phobia's with these particular photo's displaying Aichmophobia (the fear of needles). Although these images are slightly gruesome, they defiantly portray they emotional experience and pain someone goes through to get a piercing or tattoo and for that reason I think these images are a good as they interpret the ritual of getting a piercing and tattoo's by capturing this emotion and don't just show what is going on (I think this was done but taking close-up images with a short depth of field which really draws your eye to the needle and away from where there photo is being taken).
